We remember our history
On the site where the hotel is built, there used to be the building where worked a father of a famous Austrian and Ukrainian novelist Leopold von Sacher-Masoch.
The most famous work of Masoch - "Venus in Fur" inspired us to create a thematic room in our hotel
The history of the Grand Hotel Lviv dates back to 1893
We have carefully preserved the unique handrails, doors and furniture that recreate the atmosphere of the XIX century
The hotel was built for Efraim Hausmann by architects Erazm Hermatnik and Zygmunt Kędzierski. The facade of the building is decorated with statues of Atlanteans by Leonard Marconi. The hotel was immediately equipped with the most advanced technology of the time, including electric lighting.
Lviv is considered to be the chess capital of Ukraine
In November 1984, a chess community was founded at the Grand Hotel Lviv. Immediately after the founding, they held the city's first chess championship

Efraim Hausmann built a shopping passage behind the Grand Hotel. The passage and the hotel formed a single complex. Well-known brands and the best products were presented here
Today, Hausmann's Passage is the Kryva Lypa driveway – an ideal place to sit in the cosy atmosphere of Lviv's courtyards
We are constantly renovated to keep up with the times
In 1910 the hotel was reconstructed by Edmund Żychowicz firm. On the second floor, there was a "City" cafe, with a balcony along the facade.
The ground floor of the hotel was redesigned in the 1930s
At all times, Grand Hotel Lviv offered the highest service to our guests
After the Second World War, the hotel got the name "Lviv". In 1964 the hotel was renamed "Verkhovyna"
In Soviet times, on the ground floor, there was a popular cafe "Lvivianka"

It seems like "Galychyna" has been with us since Austrian times, so organically it fits into the interior of the hotel. However, it became part of the hotel in 1992 – during one of the restorations (author Hryhoriy Komsky)
This is an artwork of independent Ukraine. We pay attention to the details today so that tomorrow it becomes an artistic heritage for descendants
